Happy new year! My thirtieth year. My biggest goal of 2024 was that I promised to make it my “yes” year and I’m proud to say I did just that. Last year was full of new adventures and experiences and it was incredible. As I reflect I can’t help but be thankful for all of the opportunities I had in 2024.

Here are a just a few highlights:

  • traveled to 6 countries, 5 states, and Puerto Rico (finally made it back to Greece, which filled my heart so much)
  • started and grew my TikTok (even made some extra cash!) and
  • hit my 3 year milestone as an attorney

2025 is off to a great start too. In fact I’m writing this from Puerto Rico (posting after my return). As usual, I want to dedicate a post to my goals for the year. For those of you that don’t know, writing your goals down significantly increases the likelihood of achieving them. So, let’s make it happen.

  1. Grow my professional network

I’ve learned so much in my last three years as an attorney. I’ve also gained more confidence in my career than I would’ve ever imagined. This year I’m focusing on growth. Working in a small office in a small town can feel isolating at times, but I’ve really started to make connections that will last well beyond my career…and it’s SO rewarding. This year I will keep putting myself out there. It’s cheesy but the sky really is the limit and I’m reaching for it.

  1. Focus on my gut health

2024 was a learning experience. I’ve always struggled with my gut health and this year I decided to dig deeper and find the root of my stomach problems because it started to affect my daily life. Also, I learned so much about how your gut health is intertwined with mental health and its was honestly shocking. We’re locked in for 2025! Health is wealth my friends. My doctors have suggested a low FODMAP diet to help isolate triggering foods and unfortunately gluten is a big issue for me, which sucks because bread. However I have been pleasantly surprised with all of the available options (minus the bread…if anyone has suggestions please share). Anywho, I’m taking this time to listen to my body and take better care of her than ever.

  1. Secure additional income streams

Speaking of wealth, now that I’ve found confidence in my career, I’m finally in a place where I can dedicate effort to other aspects of my life. I’m building a little empire here. I picked up a couple additional jobs this year (teaching being one) and it was so nice to focus on something besides work. I really love teaching and hope to continue that in the new year. I’ve also started making money on TikTok which is so crazy to say! Although I’m not sure how long that will continue… we’ll just have to see what’s next!

  1. Read more books

In 2024 I got my kindle and it hasn’t left my side. It’s been deemed my emotional support kindle. Reading has always been a passion of mine but I didn’t prioritize it as I got older. Life happens, and it gets harder to sit still and make time for yourself. The past few years I’ve fallen back in love with reading. It’s brought me so much joy and I’ve been able to connect with so many people about our current reads, etc. I want to read over 20 books his year, which may not seem like much but it was harder than I thought! I just missed it last year. I want to tackle a new series this year and I hesitate to even write this down (it’s so embarrassing) but I’ve never read the Harry Potter series. I know, I don’t know how I got here either. A family friend gifted me the entire series so I will be tackling that in the near future.

  1. Learn a new hobby

I want to learn how to crochet. I’ve said it for years, but I’ve never acted on it. I love having something crafty to do in my spare time and keep my creative juices flowing and my hands moving. I cam across a little crochet kit recently so I picked it up and said let’s jus do it! It was a little too advanced for me thought so I’m gonna have to start with the basics. I love having little hobbies that I can take with me on trips or do while watching my husband’s softball games. Needless to say, everyone is getting a scarf next Christmas.

Aside from my “main” goals, I also plan to make monthly goals for myself like I usually do to keep myself on track with everything throughout the year. Goal setting is such an important aspect of my life as it truly keeps me grounded, motivated, and accountable. I look forward to sharing bits and pieces of my achievements with you throughout the year.
