Hi everyone!
My life has been so crazy with midterms lately I barely have time to breathe! I want to apologize for not keeping up with my posts as much as I should be. For those of you who are from Western Mass, I’m sure your are familiar with the Eastern States Exposition, otherwise known as the Big E. Well, the fair is now over but I’ve spent a lot of time there over the past couple weeks. My family is a vendor so I’ve been working there a lot. That being said, the Big E is known for its crazy fair food! I thought it would be a fun, silly post to show you guys all of the delicious things I ate over the course of the fair!
Lets start with my favorite Big E food of all, the Maine Baked Potato. At the Big E there are different State Buildings and they each have different pieces of their culture. For example Vermont has Ben & Jerry’s, Rhode Island has clam fritters, and well Maine has the World’s greatest baked potato. Luckily, vendors get to skip the line because people wait as much as an hour just for one potato…it’s worth it though.
Another interesting fact about fair food is that bigger is always better. Well, nothing says bigger like a 12 inch corn dog…
Yes, those are cheese fries in the background…which brings me to my next point. These fries are hand cut right infont of your eyes and they are to die for!!
I have to admit, I am not a fan of pulled pork, but it is extremely popular so I had to mention it. This picture is from my aunt Lucia, with of course her Opa-Opa Pumpkin Ale from my family’s tent. Is your mouth watering yet?
Bryan and I love free samples more than any couple I know. In the Vermont Building we stopped to sample all different types of cheeses!
I have an intense sweet tooth so of course I had to have some sweets! My two favorites were Apple Pie with ice cream and of course the Fried Oreos!
Okay, so the last thing I want to share I thought was absolutely disgusting personally but I couldn’t not share it! The Fried Martini had to have been the most popular treat at the Big E. It was more or less a fried jello shot but the mixed texture of dough and liquid kind of freaked me out, but to each his own!
This year was a total blast as always but I’m pretty sure I need to dedicate the rest of my year to healthy eating and losing the extra pounds from the fair!!! I have just about zero self-control when it comes to fair food, oh well! I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Be sure to let me know your favorite fair food!
Thanks for reading!
